男気だ！！ [cycle road race]
昨日のツール･ド･フランスは普通ならステージレースでは
走らないようないくつものパヴェ（石畳）区間を多く含んで
いて、波乱の連続だった。ツールのプロトンがパヴェを走る
光景はとても興味があるけど、それに伴って予想される
落車等のトラブルの多い展開は見たくはないんだが。
案の定落車が頻発してしまい、プロトンが分断。最悪な
ことに優勝候補のF.シュレックが鎖骨骨折でリタイアの
憂き目に。主催者はこういう展開をお望みなんだろうか？
なんかインディなんかのクラッシュを楽しみにしているよう
な外道な感じがしてしまう。
その中でカンチェラーラはまさにチームを最優先に考えた
自己犠牲を甘んじて受ける素晴らしい走りを見せている。
いや、魅せている。3ｒｄステージでも自らのマイヨジーヌを
投げ出して、落車したエースを牽くためにペースダウンして
合流。エースのタイムロスを最小限に抑えた。そして、昨日
も自らは得意とするパヴェ区間をものすごい速さで集団を
牽き、かつ後に遅れているライバル達を千切るべく長距離に
わたるまさに「鬼牽き」。何人分の仕事をしているのだろう？
その強さゆえ、「自転車にモーターを仕込んでるのではな
いか？」なんて馬鹿げた話がツール直前に流れたけど、
そんな噂なんて吹き飛ばす説得力のある、男気にあふれた
活躍をしているのでした。すごいぞ！カンチェラーラ！

W杯4強 ＆ カンチェラーラTT優勝！ [cycle road race]
昨日のドイツVSアルゼンチンを観た。今大会でよく
思うことは、「やっぱりサッカーは個人の力より、組織の
力」で戦うスポーツなんだな」ということ。ポルトガルや
ブラジル、コートジボアールやイングランド。世界屈指の
スタープレーヤが属しているチームが軒並み敗れてきた。
そして、メッシ、テヴェス、イグアイン、マッシェラーノの
超ビッグプレーヤーがいるアルゼンチンがドイツに完敗。
４－０なんて誰が想像したか？しかし、試合には組織力の
さが如実に現れていて、サッカーをよく観たことのない
うちの奥さんでも「ドイツの方がうまい」なんて生意気な
ことをいうほど。個人による局面の打開よりも、組織による
ゾーンの崩し。今年のドイツには今までにない速さと
強さが見られるような気がした。
そしてそして、ツール･ド･フランスがついに開幕！！
ドイツ戦の後半最後の方で時間が被りましたが、もう勝敗
がついていたのでチャンネルはツールへ。今回はバッソと
ランスを応援しているのだけれども、ここはTTスペシャリスト
のカンチェラーラがものすごい強さを見せ付けて優勝。ウェット
にもかかわらず平均50km以上の異常なスピードで駆け抜け
もうビックリ。今年はオランダ･アムステルダムで開幕なの
だけれども、沿道の観衆の多さにもビックリした。面白く
なりそうだ。
昨日は友人が「ジムに行きたい」と言い出したので、
連日になってしまうけど、スイム練習をした。

今までのマスコットはお役御免。今日実家に2株里子です。

いわゆる「プロ」と称される人々のパフォーマンスは
常人の理解を超えているところにありますが、今日
ジムに行ってエアロバイクを漕いでみて、またまた
改めて実感したのでありました。ジロやツールなんて
プロの中のプロからさらにホットミルクのまくを取るような
上層部の人間が出場するレースでは、超級山岳が
登場するようなステージでさえも平均時速40kmを
超えてくるのですが、「実際どんなものなのよ？」と。
いつも漕いでいるジムの自転車でトライ。とはいえ、
いきなり40kmやるなんていくら僕でも無謀とはわかる
ので、可愛らしく25km平均で25分。30km超を最後の
5分でトライ！
・・・・心臓バクバク、汗ダラダラ・ポタポタ。。。心拍数は
180を超えそうな勢いでこれは「体に悪い!!」終了です。
彼らはこれで風や空気抵抗の中で戦っているのだと
考えるともうおかしな世界以外の何者でもありません。
実際に牽いている人が風や空気抵抗の大部分を受けて
いるとはいえ、すごいものですね。おまけにそれを5時間
以上？僕の心臓がスタックするのは目に見えています。
でも、僕の少しは強くなりたいので、とりあえず25kmで
40分程度のことはやり続けることにします。
さて、今日は日本VSパラグアイですね。実力的にも負けて
はいないので、いくら南米の代表とはいえ引け目を感じる
理由はありません。今日は窓を開けて、ご近所と一体と
なり大声で応援しましょう！それと、忘れてならないのが、
スペインVSポルトガル。ロナウドとトレスが戦うことになり
ますが、それ以外にもタレントぞろいの試合です。僕はデコ
を応援し続けてきたのですが、今回が最後のW杯。なんとか
出場して欲しい。きついけど、夜中に起き出して生で！観戦
します。
葉っぱが増えてくるのは幸せな気分

7.3の開幕戦にもう1週間を切りました。我が家では
僕が登山、W杯、F1そして自転車観戦に夢中になり
家庭崩壊寸前です（＾＾；） 7.1にチームプレゼンテー
ションがあり、そこから僕はツールで頭がいっぱい。
多分W杯よりも上に来ることでしょう。今続々と出場
選手の発表が各チームからされていますが、日本の
新城選手も2年連続出場が正式発表されとても
嬉しいです。去年は第2ステージで5位、今年はジロ
の第5ステージで3位に入っており、逃げる機会さえ
うまくつかめれば、ステージ優勝も夢ではないのでは
ないか！！と日本人としては期待を膨らませてしまう
のも無理はないでしょう。いい結果が出ると良いな。

全く知らなかったレース。フランス南部のアルプス地方を
舞台とするものらしい。今2ndステージが終わったところだ
けれど、なかなか面白い。僕が知らない面々が走っている
のもあるのだけれど、今現役最強といわれているコンタドールが
出場しているから。どういう選手かはまだよくはわからない
けれど、僕の好きなバッソにTT（タイムトライアル）の強さを
加えたような感じか？これで下りまで強かったら本当に
最強ですね。個人TTのプロローグで、それほど力を出して
いないように見えるスムーズな走りで、いきなり優勝してい
ます。
次の葉がドンドン成長しています。

またしても、処分対象となった選手が出てしまいました。
スペインのトップ選手で、3大ツールの一つVuelta a Españaide
（ブエルタ・ア・エスパーニャ）の昨年のチャンピオン、バルベルデ。
2年間の全世界の大会の出場停止、ただし戦績については変化
なし。どうもよくわからない裁定ですが。。。それにしても、多い
ですね。この競技特有なのでしょうか？人間の限界を超えた戦い
をしているということなのでしょうか？でもそれでは競技自体の
存在意義も疑問に。
前述のバッソなどは周りの人間から勧められ、禁止薬物とは
知らずに飲んでしまったという調査結果がありますが、この人
の場合はどうなのか。ん～
今週末は久しぶりに山に行けそうです。天気よ頼むよ～
大きさがつかめないのでピンを刺してみました。
Valverde suspended for two years world-wide, keeps results
CAS bans Spaniard until January 1, 2012
The Court of Arbitration for Sport has handed Alejandro Valverde a two-year suspension, effective starting January 1, 2010, for his involvement in the Operación Puerto doping scheme.
The court upheld the request of the UCI and World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) against the Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC), but also refused to nullify Valverde's results prior to the start of the suspension.
"The CAS considered that there was no evidence that any of the results obtained by Mr. Valverde prior to 1 January 2010 was through doping infraction and decided that the appellants’ request to annul those results should be denied," a press release from the CAS stated.
The decision allows Valverde to keep his victories in the 2009 Vuelta a España, Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré and Clasica San Sebastian among others even though the races took place after the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) matched samples of his blood taken during the 2008 Tour de France to the evidence from the Operación Puerto case.
The CONI imposed a ban on Valverde from racing in Italy from May 11, 2009-2011. The CAS upheld that verdict in March, but had a separate hearing to decide whether the ban could be made world-wide based upon the UCI and WADA arguments.
Operación Puerto dates back to 2004, when the Spanish authorities first began investigating doping operations in Madrid. The case came to a head when in May, 2006, the Civil Guard raided the clinic of Eufemiano Fuentes and seized over a hundred bags of blood, doping products and other evidence of performance enhancing procedures.
The UCI requested in August, 2007 that the RFEC open disciplinary hearings against Valverde when the rider was linked to a bag of blood labeled '18' which also contained the banned blood booster EPO.
The presence of EPO and the DNA evidence gathered by the CONI linking Valverde to the bag was deemed sufficient by the CAS to ban Valverde world-wide based upon the "use or attempted use by a rider of a prohibited substance or prohibited method".
Since Valverde has raced throughout the entire period of the lengthy CAS appeal until his victory in the Tour de Romandie on May 2, 2010, his ban is effectively only 19 months, although the decision will likely lead the UCI to strip Valverde of his overall victory in the Tour de Romandie and his second place in Paris-Nice as well as see him stripped of his position as UCI World Rankings leader.

この時期から話題に上るのが、ドーピングの有無。
もう自転車競技では毎度のことで、バッソもその咎を
受けて出場停止になっていた期間もあり、リクイガス
チームも今回出場予定であったエース級の選手
ペリッツォッティが疑われ、出場を取りやめている。
バッソについては反省の意味もあり、自分の血液
検査の結果をブログにアップするということを励行して
いる。アメリカではランスが今疑われている。自転車
競技では本当にこの話題が事欠かない。
それでも、ちょっと気になることが。ドーピング検査は
レース後に尿検査を行うようだが、風邪薬を飲んでも
引っかかってしまうという。なのでレース終盤では、
クネゴ等、総合優勝を狙うようなトップ選手でも免疫力が

BASSO wins Giro d'Italia !! [cycle road race]
Liquigas - Doimo
3週間にわたるジロがとうとう終わった。途中2日の休息日以外は
毎日ほぼ200km前後の道のりを走りきった選手はホント異常だ。
平坦なルートだけでなく、きつい山岳コースが多いのが特徴の
ジロ。チームが結束して高いモチベーションを保ち続けてることが
よく伝わるレースだった。新城も後半何度も見せ場を作り、上位
フィニッシュを何度も決めた。総合でも93位で完走して、俄然評価が
うなぎ登りとのこと。また大きなレースに出て活躍して欲しいな。
そして、総合優勝はイヴァン・バッソ。第15ステージからの反撃が
すさまじく、それからのリクイガス・ドイモのチームの結束、強さが
レースを支配してしまった。あのグリーンのトレインはすごかった。
サイクル・ロードレースはチームスポーツなんだなっていうのが
凄くよく伝わるレースだった。ん～面白いものがあったものだ。
太陽の光が欲しい。

BASSO in Pink Jersey!! [cycle road race]
Giro d' Italia 19th stage Brescia - Aprica 195 kmは
バッソにとって最高の結末だった。実質チャンピオン争いの
相手であるエヴァンスをモルティローロ峠で置き去りにし、
第18ステージまでのトップ、アロヨをぶっ千切りにし、第20
ステージで奪回するのが濃厚だったマリア･ローザをもう獲得。
エヴァンスにも4分という安全圏といえるタイム差をつけて
終了。あまりにもできすぎで怖くなるほど。今日の最後の
難関山岳コースを無難にこなせば、余程のことがなければ
総合チャンピオンがほぼ決定する。ん～すごいな。
それにしても、苦手なのはわかるが「下り」、もっとなんとかならない
ものか。ヒヤヒヤし通しだし実際に遅くてタイム失ってるし。。
今夜も安心してみるというわけにはいかなそうだ。

This isn't my first Giro and I can assure you that I will be able to recover the attitude I had before leaving Brescia. There is still a super-tough stage and then there is the time trial."
Actually, the most dangerous man from a "Verona" standpoint is 4 minutes away. Evans says that his race towards the pink jersey is compromised by now: "I just look at our own team. However, Cadel is a great champion, strong-willed. He's a guy that doesn't give up easily, so we have to be careful."
On Mortirolo, 40 kilometres from the finish line, you climbed at a pace that was too fast, even for Nibali. You preferred to wait. But don't you think you ran a risk? "The race tactic was to stick together, our strength is in this. We preferred to join forces and it paid off. We already knew that the last part would have been really rough, we gave it all we had on those final 15 kilometres. And if we made it to the finish line, it's because of Vincenzo and Scarponi, a loyal breakaway companion all the way."
Arroyo recovered almost a minute along the downhill at Edolo before detaching again. This aspect could be a source of worry along the nosedive down Gavia, that is if the weather allows? "David is in great shape and above all, he has a great team. The pink jersey really motivated him and he didn't give up. I won't pay much attention to the classification this evening, there is still at least one stage that can completely turn the tables on the race. And I assure you that I won't lose sleep thinking about how I race downhill. There is a climb there, too and it really counts."
While you were racing down Mortirolo, were you already thinking about wearing the pink jersey at the finish line of this stage, where you had already won in 2006? "Honestly, no. We were concentrated on carrying out the task we had agreed upon. What has happened since that day in 2006 doesn't matter, what happened since I have the number back on my shoulder is more important."
It is certain that you have recovered the public's affection. "Experience makes you live certain moments in a different way, fans are always warm and affectionate with me, in Amsterdam as in Italy. Winning is great, but one can lose, too. What I have to do is return the joy the fans give to me."

去年片山右京のジロ取材番組を観てからロードレースに
興味を持ち始め、にわか自転車ファン真っ最中の僕ですが、
日曜日のレースはもう興奮しっぱなしの展開となりました。
右京もファンということで記憶に残っていた選手イヴァン・バッソ。
いわゆるイケメン。’06のGiro d' Italiaを制し、トップ選手と
なるが、プロ・ツールを巻き込んだドーピング疑惑により
07'から2年間出場停止。09'のGiroから本格復帰を果たして
いたというこの選手がリクイガスというチームのエースとして
参戦していました。第15戦まではもう一人のエース、ニバリに
押されていて今年のジロはエースはニバリでという戦略に
なりかけていた第16ステージ。しかも過去に例を見ないと
いう強烈な難コース「ゾンコラン」。約200km、3つの山を
越えてきた最後に待ち受けるのが「ゾンコラン峠」で、
上り距離は10.1km、平均勾配11.9％、最大斜度22％と
いう激坂を登って頂上ゴールするというレイアウト。いわゆる
「クライマー」のバッソには得意とするステージだが、今の
勢いではどうか？と思っていた。途中下りの苦手なバッソは
ニバリに40秒ほど差を開けられるが、なんとか平坦地で
追いつきゾンコラン峠。リクイガスの強力なアシスト陣の
引きにも助けられて、バッソは足を温存しつつ先頭集団の
前方に位置。一定のペースを保ちながら走れば、周りは
勝手に千切れていった。そしてチーム内のライバル、ニバリ
も前日の疲れもあったのだろうか千切れていった。上りの
得意な4人に絞られて峠の途中まで行ったが、とうとう
エヴァンスとバッソに絞られる。エヴァンスは現世界チャンプ
だ。バッソは座ったままで漕ぎ、エヴァンスはダンシングを
するのがスタイルのよう。2人になってもバッソは一定のペースを
保ち、まだ余裕がありそうだった。そして最後の3.7km地点。
バッソが一気にペースアップをかけると、エヴァンスはたまら
ず千切れていってしまった。ものすごいレース。普段は「微笑」
と称されるレース中のバッソの顔が鬼の形相になっていた。
去年のジロや今年のこれまでのレースでは見たことがない顔。
気迫が前面に出ていて、男から見ても格好良い。やっぱり
必死になっている人間は美しいんだなと思った。僕もこうあら
なければならない。

ファンが詰め掛けていたとのこと。ものすごい人気。ゴール

体に触りそうなほどエキサイトしていた。そしてゴール。
去年から常に上位に位置して、力を見せてはいたが、
リクイガスの中でも「エース」の地位を手放しつつあった
バッソの会心のレースだった。僕も初めてこの人の強いレース
を目の当たりにしてすっかり興奮してしまったのでした。
第21ステージまで残り6つ。4年ぶりの総合優勝マリア・ローザを
目指してバッソがどういう走りで魅せてくれるのか。

If his eyes are shining brightly on the podium after the stage that opens up a path towards the final victory, it's because during the most difficult portion of the climb, his eyes were almost squeezed shut. Opening up onto a "vertical" world where a racer can unload his spite and anger onto the asphalt. Four years after his last success (Aprica, 27 May 2006), two years after his involvement in Operación Puerto.
HELLISH. "This is the best day since I got back. The team was fantastic, it pulled for over 100 kilometres. Evans is a great champion, he came in second but he was racing, like me. This climb is hellish, you have to take it at your own rhythm or you'll blow up. It was really tough, it must be attacked and you have to be concentrated all the time. The classification? I'm happy today but there are still alot of very tiring days ahead." Humility. And yet Basso is third, at 3'33" from Arroyo (Porte is less than a minute away),his glance is focused on Tuesday's uphill time trial (tomorrow is a rest day) and on Friday's Aprica stage. The Varese native is now ahead of everyone in the ranking of the front runners, a fact that would make even the most patient of racers froth at the mouth with rage, thinking back on what happened in L'Aquila.
"Basso and Evans front-runners" David Arroyo's eyes are not as happy as they were yesterday. The captain of the Caisse d'Epargne is aware of the fact that making it all the way to Verona with the pink jersey will be quite an enterprise. "Today's goal was to maintain first position in the classification. It was really a terrible stage. I'll think about the uphill time trial later." Among the defeated racers, there is surely Carlos Sastre, whose assessment is enlightening: "Liquigas is an amazing team, I'm maturing, I'm going steady. But my condition is nothing like that of Ivan and Evans. They remain my favourites. Basso is one of the greatest professionals I know. He really put on an awesome show here." Simoni closed his account with Zoncolan (very much in the black) among the applause and cheering of thousands of fans in a festive environment. "This time I really enjoyed the spectators, it was a different feeling."

"THEY LOOK AT ME STRAIGHT IN THE EYES" During the second and last day of rest, on the eve of the individual uphill time trials from San Vigilio di Marebbe to the ski trails of Plan de Coronnes, Basso explains how his relationship with cycling and his public has changed two years after his disqualification. "I am happy that the people are on my side. In these months, every fan made up his or her own idea of what happened. I respect those who criticize me, but until now I have only received much affection. Even up on Zoncolan I understood that people can only trust you by looking into your eyes. The look in one's eyes tells the truth. You can read the sentiment, there is no hiding or changing. My results, my training charts...Everything is on my website. I am doing everything with the maximum transparency."
CREDIBILITY A necessity in today's cycling. It is different now. More "human", like the difficulties and the efforts that are emerging in the Giro d'Italia. Even more credible? "Certainly, I am speaking for my team and I am saying that we are doing everything possible so that Liquigas-Doimo races the right way. The other teams? Everyone in the Giro is undergoing the same tests we are (the latest UCI biological passport test was just this morning). We must believe that this sport has changed and give it a vote of confidence."
SINK OR SWIM. The position in the classifcation is more than advantageous. Basso is third at 3'33" from pink jersey Arroyo, but above all, he has a 48" lead on Sastre and 1'10" on Evans, his most dangerous adversary. "Being the front-runner has never brought me luck, I'd rather not make any forecasts. We have been preparing this Giro for months now, everyone knows how much this means to Liquigas-Doimo. What counts the most is the team's attitude. We must keep united, I believe in my pack all the way, 100%. If we must sink, we'll do it together, if we win it will be everybody's victory. There was a great reaction after L'Aquila: head and legs have always been connected."
THE CLIMB "The climb up Plan de Corones is a very difficult trial for me. Everyone saw who I am on Zoncolan: an athlete that can maintain speed for a long time, one who gave it all he had on a hellish climb after five hours of racing. Time trials require an enomous effort that perhaps are better suited to other champions. The winner of the Giro is one who is able to be steady overall," concludes the native of Varese, winner of the 2006 Giro. Vincenzo Nibali (seventh at 6'08") adds: "My favourite is Scarponi. He can be more explosive, when compared to Evans, in a brief yet intense climb like the one at Plan de Corones. My role? Staying close to Ivan up until Verona."
